Inclusive and ambitious futures emerge when diverse voices are part of imagining them. Engagement beyond traditional audiences stretches what we see as possible and tests future visions against different worldviews or expertise. This leads to more robust decisions and ones that are fairer to current and future generations.
We work across generations and communities to co-design futures that are inclusive, ambitious, and shaped by diverse voices. Through participatory research and creative dialogue, we help organisations and policymakers expand their vision, engage beyond traditional audiences, and turn collective imagination into action today.
Envisioning the future of youth sector collaboration
We worked with UK Youth, getting young people to design the Joined Up Institute - an initiative to break silos in the youth sector. Through a series of creative workshops, we brought together youth co-producers from across the UK to imagine possible futures, values, and co-design principles for the Institute’s future.Youth insights shaped key design decisions in the institute’s design and an annual youth futures process is now being programmed which will be used to select which evidence to platform in the institute each year.
See projectMapping consumer vulnerability in the UK energy sector
We worked with Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks to explore how future energy systems can better serve vulnerable customers. Using horizon scanning and participatory storytelling, we identified emerging drivers of vulnerability—from shifting social values and personal resilience to evolving home technologies and community-led energy networks.
By bringing diverse perspectives into the conversation, we helped SSEN expand their vision of vulnerability and anticipate the needs of future energy users—ensuring more inclusive and adaptive innovation today.
Decisions about the future can easily feel abstract and disconnected from people’s lived reality. Experiencing different options, whether through stories, play, embodiment or creativity, can deepen understanding of complex topics, uncover tacit opinions and inspire courage to take bold steps towards those futures.
We design tools and experiences that bring future decisions to life, making them tangible and relevant to people’s lives today. By creating moments for deep engagement with complex strategy and policy choices, we enable more people to contribute to the decisions that define our futures.
An immersive exhibition about the future of work
We worked with the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment to make future labour policy more tangible and participatory. Through Workplace 2040, we created an immersive exhibition featuring four speculative future desks—inviting citizens to experience and reflect on different visions of work in 2040.
Showcased at Dutch Design Week, the installation enabled policymakers to engage directly with citizens' lived experiences, uncovering diverse hopes and concerns. Now, we are applying this approach with the Ministry to integrate participatory foresight into future labor policies across the Netherlands.
Bringing people’s data concerns to life
We worked with Nesta and the Scottish Government to understand and articulate public perspectives on healthcare data sharing. Building on four exploratory consultations, we distilled insights into seven distinct relationships people have with their health data—ranging from trust and control to accessibility and personal benefit.
To bring these perspectives to life, we created an immersive online experience where users could step into different viewpoints and explore the emotional realities of data sharing. Used in government workshops, this tool deepened understanding and helped shape more people-centered digital health policies.
Patterns in complex systems shift when people see, understand, and influence them together. By creating spaces for shared learning and action, we help communities and organisations identify leverage points, test small interventions, and align diverse energies toward systemic change that is both hopeful and practical.
We partner with organisations to help bring people together around shared goals, and create spaces where collective agency can take root. By developing platforms for creativity, action and reflection, we help mobilise communities, sustain momentum, and support transitions towards hopeful futures.
A compass for the Dutch food system
We worked with the Embassy of Food to bring together food system stakeholders and map the system. From this, we developed a Systems Compass, a tool to help organizations rethink their goals and approach systemic change. Showcased at Dutch Design Week, it now serves as a starting point for transformation. We are now applying it with Embassy of Food’s partners across the Netherlands to drive systemic change in the food system.
Building momentum for everyday democracy
We partnered with Nesta to create an interactive online vision for the future of everyday democracy in the UK—helping a fragmented sector align around common goals. Through visioning workshops, we brought together 18 democratic innovators to explore what a more participatory future could look like.
The result was an interactive platform acting as a directory within the sector, and showcasing their projects as a collective vision for how to grow and scale the UK’s democratic innovation ecosystem.
